« back to classes page
This four-week workshop presented by Janet Standifer of J Standifer Consulting: Dementia in Perspective, provides in-depth education and hands-on training for those who interact directly with someone who is living with dementia. The workshops will include PowerPoint presentations, videos, interactive participation, open discussions, and role playing. Whether you are a caregiver, business, healthcare professional, or first line responder, the first step in learning how to communicate a better way is through understanding what dementia is and how it progresses. Losing the ability to communicate is one of the most frustrating and difficult challenges for people with dementia. It also becomes difficult in knowing how to talk and respond to someone who has dementia.

This dementia care workshop series teaches practical strategies, approaches, techniques and ways to manage challenging behaviors based on Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care philosophy, while still preserving a positive relationship with the person who is living with dementia.
