Sports leagues for elementary age students.
Young ladies in grades 1-9 in Weatherford and surrounding area are invited to participate in the Community Ed Spring Volleyball League.  Players will play with against other girls in their own grade level. (Grades will not be combined unless there are not enough to form a division by itself.) Returning coaches are asked to contact the Com Ed Office no later than March 13 to let them know they are coaching again, and have the option of gathering player registrations/payments from girls on their team the previous season, and bring them in as a team by the March 23 Deadline. All other girls wishing to play in the will need to register no later than March 23 and will be grouped together with other girls in their grade and from their home campus unless there are not enough to make a full team, or not enough to form a complete team. At that point players may be combined with another campus also needing players to make a team. This will be a 6-week training league beginning April 14 and ending with a tournament on May 12.  Teams will have one 1-hour practice each week beginning the week of April 9.  Parents or community members wishing to volunteer to coach a team must apply in the Community Education Office by March 30 and are required to attend the Coach’s Meeting on Thursday, April 5, at 7pm in the Bowie Conference Center, 900 N. Elm Street.  Coaches will be subject to a background check and if chosen will be allowed one free child’s registration.

A  6-week spring league is being offered to boys and girls in Weatherford and the surrounding area in grades 1-12. (A separate league for boys and girls.) This gives youth an opportunity to continue playing the sport year round to enhance their skills. Teams will be determined by the ComEd staff; there will be no select teams in the league. Those wishing to coach a team need to apply in the  Community Ed Office no later than Mar. 10.  (Coaches  from the fall league will not need to submit new paperwork.  Coaches will get one free child’s registration.)   IMPORTANT DATES - Skill Assessment/Registration— Saturday, February 24 and March 10, Ninth Grade Center “A” Gym, 9am-1pm Coaches Meeting/Clinic—Thursday, March 29, 7-8pm, Ninth Grade Center  “A” Gym (must attend to get team assignments, check out practice balls, etc.) Brief clinic will be offered following the meeting for new coaches Practice begins week of April 2 Games will be played at the Ninth Grade Center  ALL PLAYERS MUST ATTEND ONE OF THE REGISTRATION / ASSESSMENT DAYS HELD IN THE NINTH GRADE CENTER "A" GYM FEBRUARY 24TH from 9:00AM to 1:00PM  - OR -  MARCH 10TH from 9:00AM to 1:00PM
